☀️ Where to Sip This Summer

Hi Reader,

If warmer days have you dreaming of a wine-filled escape, I'm right there with you.

But not all wine regions are ideal for summer sipping.

Head to popular spots and you’ll be elbowing your way to the tasting bar. And in warmer climes, your Chardonnay won’t be the only thing breaking a sweat. 😅

I like to stick to places where you can sip by the lake, cool off at the beach, or enjoy breezy vineyard views in the hills. 🌊⛰️

Here are five destinations that bring the summer wine vibes, plus guides to help you plan:

🍇 Seneca Lake, New York
Cool-climate wine, stunning lake views, and a relaxing vibe that’s perfect for summer. This is one of my favorite Finger Lakes spots.

🌋 Dundee Hills, Oregon
Red volcanic soils, famous Pinot, and passionate winemakers. The breezy hillside tasting rooms are a great place to beat the heat and take in the Willamette Valley views.

🌊 New Buffalo, Michigan
Just 90 minutes from Chicago, this Lake Michigan shoreline town makes for an easy weekend getaway. The beach, the wine, the lake breezes…it’s all there.

🍹 Downtown Santa Barbara, California
Beach on one side, wine tasting rooms on the other. The Funk Zone is one of the coolest spots to sip your way through in summer.

🚤 Douro Valley, Portugal
Terraced vineyards and river cruises? Yes, please. I still think about the wine tasting I had overlooking the Douro.

Wherever you go, don’t forget the sunscreen…and maybe an extra wine tote. 🍷☀️

Cheers,

Laura

Hi Reader, Fall might just be the perfect wine travel season. 🍂 I love that the weather’s cooler, the crowds are lighter, and the vineyards turn into a kaleidoscope of color. Plus, if you time it right, you might even catch the harvest in action.🍇🚜 Here are five destinations that bring peak fall wine vibes, plus guides to help you plan. 🍏 Hudson Valley, New YorkApple orchards, farm markets, and vineyards with mountain views. Hi Reader, I still remember one of my first “real” wine tastings. I awkwardly tried to swirl my glass (and almost wore it), mispronounced at least three grape names, and forced myself to finish every pour. Even the ones I didn’t actually like. 😅 If you’ve ever felt unsure at a tasting, this one’s for you. Here’s what to expect (and what’s totally normal). 🍷 What a Tasting Looks Like Most tastings are structured as a flight of 3–6 wines. Some let you choose the flight style (like all reds, or...

Hi Reader, As a New Englander, I’ve been to Québec plenty of times. But besides an unsanctioned high school road trip (sorry, Mom!), I never ventured much beyond the cities…until now. I just got back from exploring Southern Québec’s wine and food scene, and wow. 😍 Between the vineyards, cideries, spas, and overachieving restaurants, I found myself wondering why I didn’t visit this region sooner. It’s so close to the U.S., but it somehow feels like a European getaway (with more cheese curds)....
