🚗 The best wine day trip from Florence

Hi Reader,

Back when I started branching out beyond your basic Cab Sauv and Chardonnay wines, Chianti was one of the first I tried.

I'm not entirely sure why.

Maybe I'd heard someone order it in a movie and thought it sounded sophisticated. 🎬🤵🏻😆

Or maybe it was because I was a young professional on a budget and Chianti was one of the few wines I could actually afford.

Either way, when you hear "Chianti," there's a good chance one of those wicker basket bottles comes to mind.

You know the ones...

The bottle your parents or grandparents had sitting on top of the kitchen cabinets for approximately 17 years. 👵🏻🍷

But the Chianti I tasted in Tuscany was a completely different story. It was fresh, food-friendly, and made me see it in a whole new way.

If you're visiting Florence, it's also one of the easiest wine regions to explore.

Most wineries are less than an hour from the city. And you'll find everything from small family-run vineyards to actual castles producing wine.

A few places I loved:

🧀 Corzano e Paterno – Excellent wines paired with cheeses made right on their farm. If you're a cheese lover, put this one at the top of your list.

🏡 Il Barlettaio – A tiny family winery where the tasting felt more like being invited into someone's home than visiting a business.

🏰 Ricasoli – Home to Brolio Castle and one of the most important names in Chianti history. Come for the castle walls and views, stay for the wine.

If you're heading to Tuscany, Chianti is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary.
